Followed by the success of the interactive version, based on the popular demand, The Digital Campus of The Madras Sanskrit College is happy to launch the self-paced version of this course "Aaramba Jotidam (Astrology).
"Aaramba Jotidam" is a course launched by the Digital Campus of The Madras Sankrit College. This course gives you an insight into basic Jyotisha Shastram (Astrology).
In the self-learnt version the the students can access the video recordings of the classes uploaded in the learning platform.
Objective: The objective of this course is to make one eligible to understand Rashis, their Navamshams, Vargas, strength of Rashis, 12 Bhavas, importance of Muhurtams, details of Tithi, Varam, Nakshatram, measurement of the time from Creation, etc.
Since Sanskrit verses are used to teach the above concepts, being able to read Sanskrit will be helpful.

In this self paced version, users can access the lessons at their convenient time.
At the end of the final lesson there is an exam with multiple choice questions related to the texts / concepts taught.
Once the exam is completed, we will send certificate to your registered email id.

Do I need prior knowledge of Sanskrit?
While the course is taught using Sanskrit verses, basic ability to read Sanskrit will be helpful but not mandatory. Also a little knowledge of Panchangam will also be helpful, Which can be acquired from from the Panchagam course from our learning platform.
Is there an exam at the end of the course?
Yes. A multiple-choice exam will be available at the end of the final lesson. It covers concepts taught in the course.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. Upon successfully completing the exam, a certificate will be emailed to your registered email ID.
What is the medium of instruction?
The course is primarily taught using Sanskrit verses, but the explanation will be in simple and clear Tamil so learners from any background can follow.
Is the course suitable for beginners?
Yes. Aaramba Jotidam is designed as an introductory-level course, perfect for beginners who wish to understand the fundamentals of Jyotisha Shastram. Still this course will be easier if you have basic knowledge of Panchagam.
What are the admission procedure and the steps involved in registering for the course?
It is a completely online Self-paced course, So for registering for the course you just have to login to your profile select the course and complete the payment. Once the payment is successfully completed the the course will be available in your profile under the heading "Courses enrolled".
What is the duration of the course?
The course consists of around 52 sessions. You will have 1 year of access to the course from the date of registration.
You may take the final exam anytime within this validity period.
After your access expires, you can extend your access by paying a nominal fee.
Are there any live classes included?
No. This is a self-paced only course with no live sessions.
Is the certificate recognised by other institutions?
Yes. A certificate of completion is issued by the Digital Campus of The Madras Sanskrit College upon successfully passing the final exam.
This course is not offered under any university, so it is not a university-accredited certificate.
However, several institutions do recognise it and may accept it as an eligibility criterion for higher studies or further learning in related subjects.
